KBIS 2008 - More Pantry Love!
From KBIS, I have too many fun images of organizational finds for the pantry not to share them with you, so there is more for today. And, if you're like me, I think it's so much fun to discover new ways of organizing (yes, FUN.) Keeps the insides of our cabinets interesting, so that they, oh let's take a stretch here, do their JOB to amuse their pantry masters, right? Not to mention adding efficiency to the mix. Poor pantries, SO much work to do! I think my own pantry definitely needs therapy, it's so mixed up...
Here we go again. Would you prefer this for your corner wall cabinet (it pulls out!):
OR THIS....! No contest!
Also from Knape & Vogt is this super handy pull out tray divider...
From Rev-A-Shelf, new (as all these products are) for 2008 is the answer to your pan storage...
Here's a cool corner solution from Sidelines
Also from Sidelines, a neat wine/bottle storage device/piece/unit/thing
And now for the fireworks images!!! Again, from Sidelines, and you'll see a variety of organizational solutions for closets and for kitchens and anywhere else you need to organize your stuff...enjoy!

Wow! Those designs for pot organization are amazing! I've never seen anything like that before. I'm so envious of the cook who would get to have that in their home!
I reallt like the tray pullout. I thnk my clients would like that alot. The other stuff is cool too, but doesn't all the mechanics and metal work take away from the storage space or does it make it more efficiant?
This deserves a bigger answer...more soon on this. Excellent point.
adrienne, anyone can have these, that's the thing...you don't have to have a custom kitchen made for you, just order these products for your existing cabinets.
I think the clue is to know exactly what you want to store and plan the storage space accordingly. Most people don't plan anything - with the result that 50% of the space (cu.ft.) is empty/wasted.
Susan, I've spent the last two days reading your archives (as well as your comments on the NYT dreamhouse blog) - and I really appreciate your take on things, particularly when talking about your own NYC apartment kitchen. However, much as I love the products you're showing from the expo, they just make me want to cry. My husband and I are both reasonably bright, well-educated people who love our jobs. We own a 1952 1100 square foot home in Sacramento, CA, for which we paid about $283K. The kitchen, which is 10x10, has not been remodeled since the house was built. Everyone in the industry (builders, designers, etc.) tells me it will cost upwards of $15K to remodel. Hah! We don't have $10K, much less 15. The largest issue is that our one bank of cabinets is only 21" deep - and cannot be made deeper without relocating an interior door (not such a big deal) and an exterior door. To move the exterior door, we'd have to reframe the exterior wall, new stucco, move a window...in other words, completely out of the budget. I can figure out what to do with the rest of the kitchen, but how on earth can we manage to remodel with $5K or so? I'm at a loss.
Apologies for the very long comment; you're the unfortunate recipient of a year's worth of frustration. Thank you!
Oh, and by the way, we don't need appliances, other than a dishwasher. We've found ONE dishwasher which will fit in a 21" deep cabinet, but it is apartment sized at 18" wide, and I'm afraid it will scare away prospective buyers.
My husband has a real hatred for 50s houses which have been "Fuscan-ed", meaning he doesn't want our house to have faux-stone, granite or other more "modern" materials. For the most part, I agree. But since kitchens often sell houses, I'm convinced we must update the kitchen somehow - including eliminating our freestanding (rolling) dishwasher, freestanding gas stove, etc. Also, one 10' long bank of cabinets doesn't cut it for storage.
Again, I'm sorry to go on so long.
Connie, you're right about that! But, you know, sometimes you just cannot plan where everything is going to go, especially in a large kitchen. I find that the norm. And, I think it's good to be flexible too, too much rigidity causes stress! But, then again, it's Friday, so maybe that's where I'm coming from. :)
Carolyn, you can do it. Use skirted fabric instead of new cabinets, rolling carts, things like that.
more in a little while...
Thank you, Susan. Clearly, I need a vacation from thinking about the kitchen!
Wow! nice designing kitchen products for home decorations......!
As a wanna be organized person, I love the "forced" organization those last two pantry shots have. How could you not be organized with a space like that?
Love it!
