Romantic Kitchens
Let's talk about romantic kitchens, ok? Picture yourself in a cottage, set
way back from the winding road. The house sits on a hill. The cottage
garden is seen from the kitchen window and the vegetable garden is just
beyond that. The kitchen, first and foremost, is a soothing place where
its owner finds solace at any given time of day. People speak in soft
voices, smiles and every motion in the kitchen is done with love.
OK, I got a little carried away. Next thing you know I'd be saying there are no mortgage issues, no conflict...and nothing to clean up! We can dream, right? Looking at these kitchens, life appears bucolic, and maybe, just maybe, having a kitchen like one of these, contributes to "peace and contentment" being a bit more achievable in one's personal haven. One can hope, and in any case, daydreaming seems quite easy in any of these kitchens..
What are the elements of a romantic kitchen? Perhaps, some of the following:

- Fabric skirts in front of lower cabinets
- Pretty things on display
- Open Shelves
- Pastel or soft neutral colors
- White, cream, or off white
- Breaking the rules

LOVE these kitchens. They make me smile and want to pull up a stool for a "spot of tea."
Charming. What I really admire in these kitchens is the "timeless" quality. Appliances aside, it is hard to pin down an era, yes? Whereas trendy kitchens reveal the era they were built.
I live in a 200+ year old cottage up a winding lane on a mountain! I have a solid fuel range which covers everything thing with a film of dust. But you enter the house into the kitchen & that's where I tend to bring people who come here. My dear friend & I spend hours seated at the table drinking coffee & talking & sharing articles in magazines & books. I had the ceiling lowered so we could have a bedroom upstairs for visits from my elder daughter & her husband & insisted that the joists were left open, ie no ceiling, just beams downstairs. Joists have to have separators put between them to strengthen or something, but mine aren't just straight bits of wood ~ I had them cross tied which adds interest. My friend said that he used trees rough hewn for joists in 1 house he renovated & stained them as burnt oak with his own special blend. I know he'd love to champher the joists & stain them to make them look better. I agree with him, but I'm not saying anything just yet! I wish I knew him when I started having this place renovated as he has ideas in tune with mine own & has tried most of them out successfully. The tradesman who was working here left me completely in the lurch, so now I need another, I wonder if friend...
I'm loving these kitchens! Thinking of decorating my own kitchen and these pictures have given me loads of inspiration.Thanks.
Hi.nice site.
Those are some nice kitchens.
Have you ever considered adding a beautiful tile mural to add even more romance.
Hello!
I just found your site and am enthralled. These kitchens are so beautiful they take my breath away. We are thinking about building a vacation house on a lake and I see one of these beautiful rooms in my future. But then again, the cost may be such that we'll have nothing but a kitchen to live in. I'm game.
Are you kidding me? Fabric covers? Dull boring colors? These are some of the coldest most boring kitchens I've seen other than stainless steel and white walls.
very good kitchen designer it changes from the usual advertising of kichens in the industry.
great design ,great art, For my next kitchen i will call you first.
