New, Cool, Refrigerator From Fagor
Just got word that Fagor is introducing a 24" no frost refrigerator. To me, this is huge news, as I'm in the middle of looking for appliances to plan into my 7' x 7' NYC apartment kitchen. So, I'm doubly excited about this product! Let me tell you a few things about it.
It is 24 x 24 x 78 3/4, meaning that it is true cabinet depth, a huge plus for small kitchens (eyes upward in thanks.) It is a sleek, modern, design, and made of high end, and finger print resistant, stainless steel.
More features include unbreakable glass trays and drawer fronts, and independent compartments with electronic regulation. The independent "multi fresh" and "double fresh" drawers allow for two unique environments within the refrigerator, great for keep vegetables crisp and meats and seafood at another level of moisture.
According to Fagor, it is the healthiest refrigerator on the market. Equipped with a unique BIO filter, an antibacterial/odor eliminating filter with indicator keeps the refrigerator hygienic by retaining mold and bacteria from the circulating air. A protection cover disables such bacterial particles from settling and growing, allowing foods to remain fresh for longer periods of time.
Even more features include fast cooling (automatically detects and adjust large food additions at once) and super freezing capabilities with a vacation setting, changing the refrigerator temperatove to 57F, preventing odor and bacteria, keeping the freezer at normal temp.
An open door alarm and beeper alarm with warning light indicate any sudden interruption of the cold chain. And, it is said to be less noisy due to one generator source for fridge and freezer. No word on energy star rating, they are currently performing the energy star tests, so that information is not complete.
The unit will be available December 2007. List price is $1699.

What I want to know is - does it come stocked with such beautiful and artfully displayed food? And will it stay that way??? This is a great size - perfect for the smaller kitchen. And the price isn't bad!

Have you seen the Liebherrs? They come in 24" with reversible doors and they just introduced a freezer/wine fridge model. Tres chic.Though the Fagor's list price is an awesome price point.
Hi Elizabeth, oh yes, they are gorgeous, that's for sure, good suggestion. The price is at least $1,000 more, a factor! But, I'll look at this and other possibilities too.
Wow. The price is very good. We're considering a Liebherr for our house, and it's much more expensive. I better check out the Fagors!
yes ~ i'm so excited to see this installed in person! i really like the design & it's a much needed model for apartment living, home entertainment rooms, butler's pantries, and the like.
I love this refrigerator. The Liebherr has an ice maker but for a $1,000 savings, I'll make my own ice!
It's nice, but you can get an LG 23.5"with, approx 67.5" tall for a about a third of this one!
I think the features look impressive for the price. I'd compare the two refrigerators very closey, most likely they are quite different on the inside/features although they may look similar!
This refrigerator is in the condo I just placed a contract on. It's beautiful and sleek. I wasn't aware of the technical side of things (thank you for explaining all the information on this beauty), but the kitchen is only 12x6 so it fits in quite nicely!

We are working up to a complete redo of a late "60's kitchen and the Fagor fits the existing pantry depth!

I hesitate to say "it's made HERE" (wherever "here" is) because as we know, sometimes the headquarters are in one country and the manufacturing is in another. It says ft3 in the specs. For the refrigerator, it's 9.89 and the freezer is 3.11, for a total of 13. That sounds like cubic feet to me, but I haven't seen it in that format before.
We're seriously considering this fridge for our NYC apartment. But can you fit a half gallon milk carton in the door compartments?

Oh my goodness, I couldn't tell you and I wouldn't guarantee it if I could! That would be dangerous. I'd bring an empty container with you if you can find it on display, or try to get technical information from the manufacturer. Good luck!!

What about the Summit FFBF28 27" energy rated model? It is 26" deep and still counter depth appropriate. I am considering it and this Fagor. Any coparison info out there?
The Summits are great too. I don't know of any specific comparison sites, but what I often do is put in, say, "Summit ffbf28 review" into google and you should get some good information. Hope that helps a bit.

In my old apartment I had the LG model recommended by Barbara in October 2007. Love it. About half the price this model, and it had a great space layout. The 78" height might require some fiddling with cabinets. My LG fit into the existing fridge space.
Discovered that finding compact appliances very often requires going to the appliance stores and looking at the catalogues, not trusting that what's on the floor is the only models available.
it is 13 cu.ft. total- 9 refrig.+ 3 frezer.
We just got this fridge and it's too loud!
I just bought the Liebherr and it came dented. I am having a hellish time getting the door replaced. should have bought a subzero....

We're close to our kitchen remodel. I've scoured the internet trying to find anything and everything about the 24" Fagor. it's the only thing that will fit nicely that won't cost me a small fortune, though ~2K is nothing the sneeze at. Now for the first time I see someone (here) saying it's too LOUD????
Al, see if you can try to find it plugged in somewhere. OR, see if you can find out the sones level and compare it to other refrigerators. That'll tell the story!
Only in your home will you know if the noise bothers you. Not in a store. The acoustics are different.
Unfortunately you have to take it home first before you'll know if it annoys you.
Secondly, the gross cubic feet (cu.ft.) is 10:3, not the net space inside.
If you do all the arithmetic multiplying and then dividing by 12x12x12 you'll see for yourself.
I contacted Fagor and got this answer:
Total Net Capacity: 12.29 ft3 (cu.ft.)
Fridge Net Capacity: 9.85 ft3 (cu ft)
Freezer Net Capacity: 2.44 ft3 (cu ft)
I like this ratio. The fridge is about 80% of the total available volume.

Does anyone know anything about the reflective Artistic black Fagor which has recently been introduced?
The black art refirgerator is the same as this s/s steel one as far as depth and height profile except it has a stainless steel with titanuim overlay finish . Its really interesting and relfective. Saw it in a showroom and it was pickign up all of the colors in the cabinetry and backspalsh. really cool. The products are manufactures in spain by the wya, i saw someone else asdked that quesiotn, they have a usa headquarters in new jersey.
FAGOR 24 in., 13 cu ft, Just arrived and it is slick. Ordered from AM Royal, local delivery agency delivered with dented front door, AM Royal has a door on it's way....Very quite and looks great, fits an 850 sq ft home perfectly...Will update on it's performance in a few weeks....so far so good!!
I'm trying to decide between the FAGOR and the SUMMIT. It appears that the SUMMIT is slightly wider but also slightly bigger inside AND it lists for less. What gives? Anyone who actually owns a SUMMIT or who has had a FAGOR for more than a week? thansk!

Well after having the FAGOR for about two months, we cannot say enough about it. Awesome fridge...we had to remove the meat/fish compartment to accommodate tall bottles/gallon size containers but did not lose any features, quiet, plenty of room for two people and cools and freezes excellent. The Fagor has a super cool and super freeze feature that can be used when you add groceries (large quantities). We have received so many compliments on the style and design of the FAGOR. Will definitely recommend!!
To LER: The Vestfrost 350 or 375 is the best fridge distributed by Summit,relabelled as a CP-171, that matches the Fagor. Also available as the Equator ConServ, and from Home Depot as the Vestfrost. Search on these names.

I've just purchased a condo, with a kitchen that is 5 feet by 8 feet. It was built in 1960 and has the ORIGINAL turquoise color GE fridge and stove. I need to replace the fridge, and the height is only 56 inches... I've googled for hours and don't find anything that will fit without having to remove the overhead cabinets. Suggestions anyone??
we ended up buying the FAGOR and have only had it for a few weeks but LOVE IT! It fits our space needs perfectly and is super well-designed. It will def. take some getting used to re: large trips to the market (family of 4) and we will probably end up getting a small 2nd freezer at some point, but it's fabulous. Plus we have gotten a kick out of the funny euro features (mini ice cube trays & egg holders, plenty of room for wine bottles). Yes, it's true--a gallon of milk will not fit w/o removing something. We've started buying mult. 1/2 gallon containers.
In the end I got the tall slim LG (the taller of the two). I love it. Low noise. I heard the Fagor in a showroom and heard its various and sundry noises. Please note that the most positive reviews about the Fagor read like shills to me.
Does anyone know if this Fagor refrigerator is available in Toronto?
I am looking for a good place to buy a fridge that has a minimal depth. The way my kitchen is designed, width and height are not the main consideration, I need something that is in the 24" deep range. Any suggestions?
