The Original Bornholm Kitchen Moodboard

In honor of Bornholm Kitchen's coverage in the New York Times last week (yay!), I thought I'd post my original moodboard I created for our Bornholm Kitchen Blog as part of Decor8 Holly Becker's wonderful blogging e-course, Blogging Your Way.
The beauty of this exercise, and the outcome, was that we created a physical, not digital, moodboard. I loved using tactile elements and the cathartic process of flipping through magazines, and scouring our house for pieces of inspiration. It really helped me hone in on my focus and vision and was very telling to go through the process of editing which images and items I wanted to keep in vs. take out. Very useful and FUN overall. Most of the pieces I chose pay homage to our Danish heritage and family's legacy of kitchen design which are the primary influences behind Bornholm Kitchen. I found inspiration via natural sources such as wood, fiber, neutral earth tones, and some quintessential elements of Scandinavian culture.
And how great is that little wooden Bornholm sign in the upper right corner? We dug that out of the basement unexpectedly from a trip Susan had taken to Bornholm decades ago, and it served as a poignant reminder that we might just be on the right path here.
